Typically, business owners would just get outsourced accounting services in Malaysia to deal with all of their company’s bookkeeping and accounting needs. However, there are some business owners that do not have the luxury of getting such services, which is why they would just rely on their existing employees to do some critical accounting tasks.
Accounting is very important when it comes to businesses because it not only helps influence the decision-making process of the company owner; it also helps you know about the real financial health of your company.
But, accounting in and of itself is quite complicated and hard to do that employees that do not have formal education about the matter would always sidestep and will not do such things.
However, as I’ve mentioned earlier, your company needs some form of accounting to ensure that your company’s finances are well accounted for.
This article centers around how you can convince or get your employees excited about accounting so that they will do the things that are necessary for your company to flourish.
Tell Them the Importance of Accounting
The first thing that you can do as a company owner is to let your employees know how important accounting is for the business. You must also provide the necessary policies and procedures so that they will know exactly what needs to be done and so that your processes are standardized.
There is just one problem with this approach. Typically, non-accounting employees that are forced to work as a company accountant might not have the skills nor the knowledge to get things done. On top of that, you are going to be asking them to do something that is potentially hard for them to do.
This creates the risk that your employees might take shortcuts because they do not want to deal with such problems. If you go so far as to reprimand them about the quality of their work, they may become disgruntled or angry at you.
To somehow fix this problem, you talk to them individually and tell them about why you are doing these things, so that they will understand and know the importance of something (in this case, the accounting of your business processes).
Give Them Incentives
Another way to entice your employees to do your company’s accounting processes would be to give them incentives and perks.
For instance, if they have done an admirable job in creating your financial records, then you can perhaps give them salary bonuses or additional vacation time for their efforts.
If you do this, it will show them that you always value a job well done and they will appreciate the gesture.
Have Different Teams Work Together
When your business grows considerably- giving birth to different departments that have different tasks to do, there will usually be some friction between the different teams.
For example, if your accounting department will require sales figures from the sales department, that might cause some trouble, especially if the latter department was not asked beforehand.
